The Relationship between Physical Activity and Different Measures of Obesity in Girl’s Students

Abstract

Background and Objective: Physical activity is one of the important determinants of weight and significant impact on reducing the incidence of overweight and obesity in women. The study aimed to investigate the relationship between physical activity and different measures of obesity was carried out on students.
Method: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 370 female students from the University of Zabol. Beck standardized questionnaire was used to assess physical activity of students that physical activity in three areas of work, sport and leisure can be questioned. Also, Researcher made questionnaire were used to evaluate demographic information. Then age, height, weight, WC, BMI, WHR, WHtR was evaluated. The collected data were analyzed using statistical analysis methods.
Results: The results indicate that low levels of physical activity (work, sports, leisure, and total) in the students. On the other hand, measures of obesity were (BMI, WHR, WHtR, WC), respectively (21.88± 3.40, 0.74 ± 0.05, 0.43 ± 0.05, 69.82 ± 7.22) who were all in the normal range. The relationship between measures of obesity and physical activity survey, a significant association was found between any of the cases. Between all measures of obesity but also positive and significant relationship was found.
Conclusion: Considering the importance of physical activity in young people, especially female students, results showed that despite the natural range of exposure levels of obesity, physical activity in the population studied not enough and it is necessary to encourage and teach this group to change the life style of careful planning must be done.
