Anxiety AIDS and its Relationship with Demographic Factors in Students Population

Abstract

Background & Objective: Anxiety is normal reaction to the stress that has elements of behavioral, physical and mental, that there are different aspects of human life. The present study was performed to determine anxiety AIDS and its relationship with demographic factors in students population of Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences. Methods: In this descriptive-analytical (cross sectional) study 380 cases of students who attended the educational were selected on a stratified random sampling with proportional allocation of fields study. Primary data gathering tools were data recording sheet and AIDS Anxiety (MAAQ) questionnaire. The were data analyzed in SPSS software. (Version18) Results: The results showed frequency of anxiety at each level of low, moderate, and severe is 42.9, 52.4 and 4.7 percent, respectively. Also, multidimensional AIDS anxiety was significantly related to sex (p=0.001), semester (p=0/001), degree (p=0.003), the duration of study (p=0.009), and the source of information (p=0.004). Conclusion:According to the results, majority of students had moderate levels of anxiety, so this would explain the importance of policies for the education and well prepared and informed before entering into the clinical environment and student privacy risks, and subsequently optimization of the service to identify patients with maintaining safety. So, training classes in order to coping skills for anxiety and stress, as well as counseling for students is recommended.
