Prediction of Marital Adjustment Based on Family Solidarity, Decision Making and Problem Solving Skills and Coping Skills

Abstract

Background and Objective:Nowadays identification of affecting factors on mcreasing of divorce and coping with in societyis important among couples coping with marital problems and conflict resolution. Hence the purpose of the present research is prediction of marital adjustment based on family solidarity, decision making and problem solving skills, and coping skills.
 Methods:The statistical population include all married teachers of elementary schools in Karaj city in the academic year 2014-2015 that by using random cluster sampling 358 person were selected based on Morgan table. To collect information the researchers used Dyadic Adjustment Scale of Spanier (DAS, 1976), and in order to measure family Solidarity, decision-making and problem-solving skills, and coping skills they used Family Process Scale Samani (2005). The data were analyzed through Pearson correlation and stepwise regression.
Results:The results showed that family Solidarity, decision making and problem-solving skills, and coping skills have a significant relationship with marital adjustment teachers in significant level of P< 0/01 and also stepwise regression analysis showed that apart from coping skills that had not a significant effect at the regression equation, two component family Solidarity, and decision making and problem solving skills explain together 45/4 percent of the variance marital adjustment.
Conclusion:According to research findings, it can be concluded that family solidarity, and decision making and problem solving skills have ability to predict marital adjustment. Therefore by strengthening and improvement predictor variables among husband and wife can move forward to create a more adaptive and more stabile life for couples.
