The Relationship between Organizational Commitment and Work Ethic in Nursing of Fatemeh Zahra Hospital

Abstract

Background and Objective: The role of work ethic and organizational commitment is undeniable in organizational efficiency and is a significant and influential challenge for management. The aim of this study was to assess the work ethic and job organizational commitment status of Fatemeh Zahra hospital nurses in the Sari and the relation between these variables.
Methods: It was a descriptive, correlational study. A total of 148 nurses of HazratFatemeh Zahra of Sari were selected through stratified random sampling method. The data gathering tools were Petty's work ethic questionnaire and Allen and Myer's organizational commitment questionnaire. The data analyses were conducted using Pearson correlation and One Sample t test with SPSS 16 Software.
Results: Based on the results of the study, all dimensions of work ethics and two dimensions of organizational commitment were significantly above the theoretical mean (p-value=0.000). In examining the relation between two variables, work ethic and commitment, the relation between considerate organizational work ethic and continuance organizational commitment was significant (p-value=0.022).
Conclusion: Based on findings it is necessary for managers to try more to improve continuous commitment of nurses in hospital in order to promote and expand healthy human relationships in work ethics.
