Proportion of Hypertension and Its Relationship with Some Related Factors among Postmenopausal Women from Sari in 2013

Abstract

Background and Objective:Menopause is one of the four crises in women's life. The purpose of this study is determining the proportion of hypertension and it´s relation with some related factors among post menopausal women from Sari in 2013. Methods:In this sectional and Descriptiveanalysisstudy, 301 post menopausal women were recruited using two-steps random sampling method. Simultaneous with screening plan for measuring blood pressure of those people who are above 30 years old across country, this study has been implemented in 10 fixed and mobile health care centers in sari. For recording information, such methods as clinical examination, interview and personal questionnaire have been used. The questionnaire included medical information, social demographic information, blood pressure rate and corresponded factors with blood pressure. For analyzing data,the researcher has used SPSS software version 16, descriptive statistics (frequency, average and standard deviation) and inferential statistics such as chi-square and logistic regression. Results: In this study, 33.9% of women were afflicted by systolic hypertension. In this study, significant relation between increasing blood pressure with the history of hypertension has been observed (p<0.0001). Also there has beena significant relation between increasing in systolic blood pressure and lipid, history of myocardial infarction, having more than six children, being above 56 years, and drinking tea at the level of pConclusion:The results of this study show that the prevalenceof systolic hypertension among post menopausal women in sari is relatively high. Moreover, conducting further research for screening menopause women and treatment action has been recommended. Key words: Hypertension proportion, Women, Menopause, Related factors
