Abstract

Background and Objective: Optimism and emotional intelligence a range of abilities and non-cognitive skills that a person's ability to successfully cope with environmental stresses, especially increased burnout. The purpose of this study, the relationship between optimism and emotional intelligence and occupational burnout among employees of Zahedan.
Method: This descriptive correlational study in 2015 in Zahedan. The study population included all employees of the education area, a census method which 60 people (all male) were selected. To gather the data, three questionnaires optimism, emotional intelligence and occupational burnout. The data using mean and standard deviation, correlation and regression using the software spss-19 were analyzed.
Results: Age range of the participants in this study were between 25- 50 years, the largest percentage of the age group 31- 35 years (46.4%) is allocated. The highest percent sample of undergraduate studies (50.4%) and work experience 6 to 10 years (39.2%) were. the average optimism, emotional intelligence and job burnout above average. Inverse correlation between optimism and burnout in there p<0.05. As well as between the components of emotional intelligence and job burnout level there p<0.01. stepwise regression analysis showed that emotional intelligence personnel have been able to predict burnout.
Conclusion: Between optimism and emotional intelligence with job burnout there is a negative relationship. Regarding the relationship between optimism and emotional intelligence and job burnout is recommended that educational programs be conducted in order to reduce burnout.
