The Effectiveness of Treatment with Painting in Reducing Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Boys Educable Mentally Retarded

Abstract

Background and Objective: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a common problem among childrens educable mentally retarded son. One of the proposed methods for treatment is art therapy. Accordingly, the aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of art therapy with painting in reducing attention deficiency hyperactivity children are educable mentally retarded son.
Method: The study was a quasi-experimental study. The population included all the boys 8 to 16 year's educable mentally retarded exceptional educational centers of Ilam city.of those who form the highest score of the Conners Teacher Rating Scale have won. 48 people selected randomly and were divided randomly into two groups. The experimental group received training in 8 sessions. After completion of therapy sessions and a month later, post-test and follow-up test was conducted.
Results: The results of repeated measures analysis showed that the meanscores of attention deficit hyperactivity in pretest and posttest in the experimental group had a significant difference; however, there was no significant difference in post-test and follow-up.
Conclusion: The findings of the study showed that painting therapy can be attention deficit hyperactivity in boys decreased.
