Effectiveness of Cognitive Emotion Regulation on the Prevention of Recurrence and Quality of Life of Addicts

Abstract

Background and Objective: To prevent recurrence and improve overall quality of life for people addicted intervention is required. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive emotion regulation training on the prevention of recurrence and qualities of life of Ilam were addicts.
Method: A quasi-experimental, pretest, posttest, and follow up with control group consisted of all males community addiction centers in Ilam. 30 students were selected by convenience sampling method and divided into two groups of 15 participants and control. The experimental group received 9 sessions of group cognitive emotion regulation.Pre-test, post-test and follow-up of 3 months for both groups. Data using Craving Beliefs Questionnaire (CBQ) and quality of life questionnaire (SF36) were collected.
Results: The results of univariate analysis of covariance showed that the mean follow up of recurrence in post-test and there is a significant decrease compared to the pre-test in the experimental group had a significant increase in the variable quality of life.
Conclusion: It can be concluded that by training cognitive emotion regulation can be taken a step in enhancing the mental health of addicts.
