The Comparison of the Happiness and the Source of Control in the Epileptic and Non-epileptic Adolescents

Abstract

Background and Purpose: Studies show that patients with epilepsy, have a certain psychological profile and they experience a specific psychological and emotional tissue. Due to this, the present research in urology hospital of Tabriz in the second half of the year 93 (2015) by aimed to compare the happiness and the source of control in the epileptic and non-epileptic adolescents.
Methods: This study was on the causal-comparative post events. The population of the present research was formed on all the children and adolescents with epilepsy referred to neurology hospital in Tabriz in the second half of 93 (2015).
20 People were selected from the community by the purposive sampling method and 20 other members of the society of ordinary people were selected as a comparison group. And they answered to the oxford happiness and source rotter IE questionnaires. The data collected also using multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) were analyzed.
Results: In general, people with epilepsy in the happiness scale (P = 0.025) and source of control scale (P = 0.004) compared to non-epileptic seizure shows a significant difference, but there was no significant difference between people with epilepsy in the scale of locus of control (P = 0.49), external locus of control (P = 0.32) than the ordinary people.
Conclusions: In this study, generally there was a significant difference between happiness and the source of control in people with epilepsy and non-epileptic. Thus, according to the present research, training programs happiness and the source of control of epileptic patients is remarkable.
