An Investigation of the Relationship among Related Constructs with Nurses' Job Burnout in Babolsar shafa Hospital in 2015

Abstract

Background and Objective: Job Burnout as fatigue caused by existing pressures in the workplace, many consequences and costs imposed on health organizations and its personnel, such as turnover, absenteeism and affecting on the mental health of the individual. Thus, by considering the importance of job burnout and its impact on the extent of employees' performance and organizational productivity, this study was conducted in order to investigate is the relationship among related constructs with nurses' job burnout in a public hospital.
Method: This research is descriptive- analytical and based on the DEMATEL technique. The research variables of the present study are: quality of work life, organizational citizenship behavior, job burnout, mental health and Islamic ethics. The statistical population in this research is experts, administrators and officials related to human resources at SHAFA Hospital in Babolsar city in 1394. These people were selected by purposive sampling method. Data were collected by using paired comparisons questionnaire. Data analysis was performed based on DEMATEL technique.
Results: According to the results of DEMATEL technique, variables ranking based on the value       (di +rj) showed that job burnout variables (7/195) are the most important variables, and organizational citizenship behavior (6/814) are the least important variables, also ranking of the variables based on the value (di-rj)  showed that Islamic ethics variables (1/566), are more influential, and OCB variables (-0/409) are impressionable variables. On the other hand, according to the value (di +rj)  can be found that job burnout has a central role. In other words, job burnout has the maximum amount of correlation with other variables.
Conclusion: According to the revealed central role of job burnout among variables, it seems that the hospital managers can take step to improve indicators of research by planning and setting the appropriate programs, and also to enhance the level of nurses' job burnout to a more favorable level.
