The Predictions' Demographic of General Health in Menopausal Women in Langroud City

Abstract

Background and objective: Health is without doubt the most important aspect of life. Considering that menopause is one of the critical stages of each woman's life, that the health status her affects, so this study aimed to assess the general health and its predictions in menopausal women have been conducted.   
Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 400 postmenopausal women at the age range of 45-60 in Langroud city (Gilan province) in 2011 were studied by random sampling. The data were collected by referring to their houses using demographic and general health (GHQ-28). Multivariate linear regression model (MVR) was used to analyze data.
Results: Findings showed that the average score of menopausal women GH was 21.3 (6.9) and 26/7% of women had health problem. The highest score of general health dimensions was related to social function and the lowest score was related to depression and as physical symptoms is high. The results of multivariate linear regression analysis, the variables of marital status, chronic diseases, economic status and education are predictive of general health in menopausal women.
Conclusion: Results indicated that menopausal women complained in social functioning and physical symptoms. Therefore, It is necessary that some ways of interventional should be designed to promote the social function and improve physical symptoms of middle aged women felt better in this aspect of the situation is reached.
