Abstract Background and Objective: this paper studies the association between personality disorder syndome and marital adjustment. Methods: this is a descriptive/correlational research study with a sample of 300 married employees randomly selected from the staff members of hospitals in a Tabriz. They were studied by The Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-III(1994) and Marital Adjustment Inventory (MAI) by Dr. Harmohan Singh (1987). Multivariate regression model was employed. Results: resultes significantly linked the clinical personality disorders syndrome to marital adjustment. Accordingly, a significant negative correlation was observed between clinical models of schizoid personality disorder, avoidance, depression, narcissism, sadism, negativism, scizotypal personality disorder, and borderline personality disorder(P≤0.01). Regession results displayed that the prediction of adjustment in women’s marrige based on personality disorders, clusters A, B, and C were respectively significant about schizotypal personality disorder, and avoidance(P≤0.0001). According to stepwise regression analysis, there was a significant prediction for marital adjustment based on post-traumatic stress disorders, addiction to alcohol, anxiety and depression (P≤0.01). Conclusion: As results confirm the association between personality disorders and Clinical syndrome and marital incompatibility, couples’ Psychological/Personality statues are recommended to be examined before marrige to have a stronger union.
