Relationship between Attachment Style and Alexithymia as an Effective Factor on Student Resiliency

Background and Objective: Resiliency is a type of self-healing with a positive, emotional, affective and cognitive outcome. Therefore the Aim of this research was to identify relationship between attachment style and alexithymia  as an effective  factor on student resiliency.  
Methods: This descriptive study is correlation type and statistical population included all psychology students of Islamic Azad University of Sari in 2012-2013. According to the table of kerjsi and Morgan (1970), 196 samples were selected out of the students with using simple random sampling. In order to collect the required data through the Adult Attachment Scale questionnaire, Toronto Alexithymia Scale 20 and Scale Resiliency Kehner - Davidson were used.
Results: The results showed that there are significant relationships among the component of attachment style such as between secure attachment and resilience (r=0.759) insecure attachment and resilience (r= 0.141) ambivalent attachment and resilience (r= 0.470). And also between alexithymia components such as difficulty in identifying feelings and resilience (r= -0.744), difficulty describing feelings, and resilience(r= -0.770) and objective thinking and resilience (r= -0.766). There is a significant relahonship.
Conclusion:The results showed that there was a relationship between secure attachment and emotional understanding students' resiliency. Therefore, with respect to special situation of students as a typical basis of educational system of country, applying and utilizing a modern and efficient consultation and psychological services will be useful.
