Background and Objective: Concern is growing for breaking family ties. It is necessary to understand the processes that will protect families against these challenges. The purpose of this research was to study the role of attachment style and marital adaptation in family hardiness. Methods: In order to examine this role, 168 spouses in Yazd were selected through an available sampling. The instruments used in this study were, Experiences in Close Relationships Scale (ECRS), Lock-Wallace Marital Adjustment Test (LW-MAT), Family Hardiness Index (FHI). Pearson correlation analyses and two way variance analysis used for data analysis. Results: Results of data analysis showed that there are negative correlations among avoidance and anxiety with family hardiness, and avoidance with marital adjustment, also marital adaptation related to the family hardiness. Families with secure attachment and adjusted spouses have a high hardiness, rather than families with no-secures attachments and unadjusted spouses. Conclusion: Therefore; having a secure attachment by spouses and to agree on the major issues, increases their tolerance and difficulties management.
