Fathers' Religious Orientation and Perceived Family Communicative Patterns in Their Children

Background and Objective: The present research investigated the relationship between fathers religious orientation and perceived family communicative patterns in their children who were high school students.
Methods: The sample comprised of 360 students and their fathers who were selected via multi stage cluster sampling. Family communicative patterns questionnaire administered to the students and the questionnaire of the religious orientation with reliance on Islam was administered to their fathers.
Results: Generally, the results revealed that the fathers' religious orientation positively predicted children's perceived family communicative patterns. The beliefs and moral aspects of the fathers religious orientation positively predicted the conversation aspect of perceived family communicative patterns. The beliefs and moral aspects of fathers, religious orientation positively predicted the conformity aspect of family communicative patterns.
Conclusion: fathers' religious orientations partially determine children's perceived family communicative patterns. Findings of present study are discussed in the light of previous literature, implications and applications are suggested.
